Mario J. Frabizzio Jr., Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist
Hello and welcome to the practice of Dr. Mario J. Frabizzio, Jr. Please take the time to read this information and allow me to introduce myself and familiarize you with the policies of this practice. I was born, raised, and educated in Wilmington, DE; attended St. Anthony of Padua Parochial School; Salesianum HS; earned my B.A. from the University of Delaware; and being a native of this area- which is rare among Private Practice Psychologists in Wilmington- affords me both a deeply personal feel and understanding of this area and its resources as well as long-term connections with numerous professionals in the community, many of whom I went to school and grew up with. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with decades of clinical experience. I began practicing psychology in 1975, was licensed in PA in 1981, and in DE in 1999 and have maintained a full-time Private Practice since 1986. I have practiced in Child Guidance Centers, Community Mental Health Centers, Community Adult Service Agencies, Children’s Hospitals, EAP's, Schools, and Colleges. Trained initially in the pediatric and child clinical areas, my practice has grown to include the treatment of adults. Therefore, although this practice focuses primarily on Child & Family issues, adults are often treated individually or in couples’ sessions. Services provided to children include: individual, play, family therapy, and Psychological testing. Specialty areas include pediatric therapy (5 and under), hypnosis, anxiety disorders, depressionbehavioral problems, psychological testing, spinal cord injuries, and treatment of twins and families of twins.
In my Practice, the main goal of therapy is the patient’s well-being and emotional health; treatment approaches and plans are discussed from this perspective. To facilitate treatment, rather than employ one style or treatment orientation, treatment strategies derive from a variety of theoretical approaches from psychodynamic to cognitive behavioral. Similarly, tools used in sessions are also contoured to the patient and their needs and range from play therapy with children and parent education for parents, to hypnotherapy and the use of projective techniques such as use of the Rorschach, Dream Analysis, the Mutual Story Telling Technique, and Projective drawings.
Until recently, I have been a solo practitioner. Over the years, my practice has evolved from an exclusive "out of network", fee for service practice to one that has incorporated "in-network" services. I have selectively joined insurance networks, which cut patient's costs. In today's mental health environment it is essential to know what psychological services and which providers are covered by your insurance. At present, my practice in "in-network" for:
a) Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Delaware (Highmark). Typically, the BCBS network allows "in-network" services for plans in other states if they use BCBS for their mental health services. I have been able to get reimbursed from the Blues network in NJ, PA, MD, NY, TX, IL, plus some other states. One local outlier is Independence BCBS. Some plans utilize a middleman agency (e.g., Magellan, Keystone, Trinity, etc.) rather than the BCBS network, while some plans do not. Therefore, Independence BCBS may or may not allow "in-network" access but does allow "out-of-network" access.
BCBS of Delaware (Highmark) also honors their Health Options plan which is their Delaware Medicaid plan.
b) AETNA network: I am available for nearly all of their coverage plans as well as EAP services covered by AETNA. There are a few exceptions.
c) Cigna Behavioral Health network and Cigna EAP.
My practice also offers the option of out-of-insurance fee for service treatment, if desired.

Currently, Psychoeducational Testing is not available but if and when resumed payment will be out-of-pocket rather than billed through Insurance. Fees for psycho-educational testing are in place eliminating the need to meet a deductible and the need for approval for reimbursement of the same amount or less from the Insurance Companies. All testing is charged out of pocket rather than through Insurance, to eliminate their interference about which tests to give and what diagnosis will or will not be reimbursed.
For a thorough summary on Insurance Coverages and practices, please click the "Current News and Events" icon above. My Typical standard fees for patients are in-line with the local “average” rates and are very competitive, especially for a Psychologist with over 45 years of clinical experience. Presently my fee is:
Initial Interview = $150;Therapy session (45 minutes) = $135; Psycho-educational Testing = $2500 - $3000.
THESE RATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Lastly, since the onset of Covid, we are now offering teletherapy services and will continue to utilize this modality since if Insurances continue to reimburse these services. This should aid ease of services for patients and families Post-Covid, and with the addition of Joe Cincotta, Group Therapy will become available for varying groups including but not limited to: Social problems, Asperger's, Parent groups, behavioral problems, and anxiety disorders.

Thank you for contacting my website. Please feel free to ask about any of the policies mentioned above.
